Indictment Returned In North Texas Heroin Ring
McKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Authorities say 16 people have been indicted in an undercover investigation of a heroin ring operating in North Texas.
Prosecutors on Friday announced the arrest of 10 people charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin in the McKinney area.
U.S. Attorney John Bales says the investigation began in July and a sealed indictment was returned December 14. The arrests started Tuesday.
If convicted, the defendants each face up to 40 years in federal prison.
The indictment also seeks forfeiture of any property used to commit or facilitate the crimes and any proceeds of the conspiracy.
