Increased Security Set For Dallas City Hall

DALLAS (AP) - Visitors to Dallas City Hall will have fewer choices on where to enter the municipal building.
Security measures that take effect Tuesday mean visitors will only have access to the downtown Dallas building at two ground-level entrances, instead of various doorways. Security screening, including metal detectors and scanners, has been set up at the north and east lobbies.
City employees must use their security badges for access to other entrances.
City Manager A.C. Gonzalez says the upgrades are meant to enhance the safety of citizens, employees and elected officials, while continuing to provide public access.
People can leave Dallas City Hall via exits in the main, east and west lobbies, along with the parking garage. Dallas City Hall also has three ground-level emergency exists on the building's south side.
