DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A lot of North Texans are looking at the calendar and wishing for spring! That is especially the case for those in the northwest counties.
Folks in Denton and parts farther north have been hit the hardest by freezing weather the past two weeks.
Folks across the metroplex are pretty much done! Done with seeing sand on the streets. Done with the ice. Done with the snow.
One Denton County woman is in the business of dealing with frosty things, but even she is looking forward to a warm up.
Margaret Rich is the owner of Beth Marie's Ice Cream Shop on the square.
Rich said her shop was packed with customers a few weeks ago and all believed spring had arrived. But the past couple weeks, she's been selling more hot chocolate than ice cream.
Now she, like so many others in Denton, is hoping the latest rain/sleet/snow storm is the last of the season.
Talking about what she thought was the end of winter weather Rich said, "Three weeks ago I actually thought I was there. I started hiring all these employees. And now I have like eight employees that were supposed to be training through all of this and I don't know where I'm at now. So, we gotta play catch up pretty soon."
Rich has tried to roll with the punches though. She has done some improvising on the menu. Beth Marie's Ice Cream Shop began selling hot chocolate ice cream floats and warm cobbler with a scoop of ice cream.
Looking on the bright side Rich made it a point to reiterate that it's a lot warmer inside her store than outside.
