"I Choked My Mom"

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A 25-year-old man was arrested after police say he choked his mother to death at her Red Bird home Saturday night.

Gonzalo Roberto Lopez told police "I choked my mom," according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Police found 51-year-old Isabel Kristina Lopez dead in her upstairs bedroom. Her hands were tied together and a television cable wire was wrapped around her neck, the arrest warrant affidavit says.

Lopez was arrested and is held at Dallas County jail on a $750,000 bond.

Dallas police found his dead mother at her apartment when they responded to a disturbance call around 7 p.m. in the 800 block of Beckleymeade Avenue.

A friend of Isabel Lopez contacted police after he received a cell phone call from her, heard a disturbance and noticed her phone line went dead, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. The friend told police Lopez's son was known to be violent.

When police arrived to the address, Gonzalo Lopez was outside of the apartment. He went inside the apartment with them and said "I think she's dead" or "I killed her," according to the arrest warrant affidavit. He raised his arms above his head and was handcuffed.

In a police interview, he said he got into a verbal argument with his mother, placed her into a wrestling hold and choked her to death, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. He said he bound her hands and neck in case she woke up after she had stopped breathing.
