Hyndman Named MLS Coach of the Year

FRISCO (Sports Network) - FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman was named the 2010 Major League Soccer Coach of the Year on Thursday.

Hyndman led FC Dallas to an impressive 12-4-14 record, including a league record 19-match undefeated streak, and a trip to the playoffs. FC Dallas' four losses tied for fewest all-time in a single season.

FC Dallas also set a league mark for a road unbeaten streak of 12 matches. FCD finished third in the Western Conference regular-season standings and defeated defending MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake in the first round of the playoffs.

FC Dallas visits Los Angeles on Sunday in the Western Conference championship, marking the franchise's first conference final appearance in 11 years.

Hyndman, in his second full season as coach, is the first Dallas coach to ever win Coach of the Year. FC Dallas was just 11-13-6 in his first full season.
