Hurd May Soon Plead Guilty To Drug Charges
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Recently filed federal court documents state that former NFL wide receiver Sam Hurd could be ready to plead guilty to drug charges. But there is some conflicting information about the agreement.
Hurd was arrested last December in Chicago, but the case is being heard in Dallas.
Documents state that the former Dallas Cowboys player has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. However, attorneys for Hurd in Dallas said that the court documents are premature, and that the language in the plea agreement is not finalized.
Still, the seven-page plea agreement has been signed by Hurd, his two attorneys and the prosecutors in the case.
The court records state that, in this guilty plea, Hurd would go to prison for no less than 10 years and no more than life, and would receive a fine not to exceed $10,000.
Hurd played for the Cowboys from 2006 to 2010 before playing for the Chicago Bears. He remained with Chicago until his arrest.
