Hurd Co-Defendant Pleads Guilty To Drug Charge
DALLAS (AP) -- A Dallas man accused of working with former NFL player Sam Hurd to arrange large-scale purchases of cocaine has pleaded guilty to a federal charge.
Toby Lujan pleaded guilty Friday to one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. His plea deal calls for a prison sentence of 5 to 40 years. It also requires him to testify if asked.
Hurd and Lujan were indicted in January. Hurd allegedly told an undercover officer he wanted to buy five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week to distribute in the Chicago area.
He was later cut by the Chicago Bears.
Lujan's attorney declined to comment. Hurd's attorneys did not immediately return messages.
