Hugs Cafe In McKinney

It's been proven that hugging is extremely effective at healing sickness, depression, anxiety and stress. That is not news to the folks that run the Hugs Cafe in McKinney.
It is a very special cafe on East Virginia Street with a sign out front that says "Have you had your Hugs today?" It all started when Ruth Thompson was sleeping one night.
"I absolutely had a dream about a restaurant that employed adults with special needs. I told my husband and he said we have got to do it" said Founder of Hugs Cafe in McKinney.
Hugs Cafe now employs 22 full-time special needs folks from all over North Texas serving lunch from 11 am - 3 pm six days a week.
"They do everything in this kitchen" Ruth added.
