How To Greet Josh Hamilton In Texas
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- With the Rangers officially beginning their 2013 campaign in Arlington later Friday, the talk of the town is all about how the fans should treat former hero, now loathed, Josh Hamilton.
Hamilton's lackluster effort and every excuse under the sun in the last few months of his Rangers career seems to severely overshadow the fact that the Rangers would not have gone to back-to-back World Series without the 2010 AL MVP.
On Friday afternoon, Rangers Nation has four simple options as to how they want to respond when Hamilton comes up to the plate for the first time in five years in something other than a Texas uniform:
A) 'Boooo' – Maybe the best way to release the anger although it's not original and nothing that Hamilton will take personally, as he's publicly said multiple times and as recently as Thursday.
B) 'Silence 4 Josh' – The local campaign should be commended, but such a behavior is nearly impossible to execute with 48,000 passionate fans who have been waiting for their voices to be heard all off-season.
C) Cheer – Remember all the crappy Rangers seasons in the 80's and 90's? Hamilton was the key part in fixing all that. Unfortunately, too much has happened for the majority of fans to pat the 'ole 5x All-Star on the back.
D) Chant, "Sherrrr – locksssss … Sherrr – lockssss …" – If fans truly have hatred built for Hamilton, this is the way to roll and an original idea of mine, I might add. Bring up one of the several personal issues in Hamilton's life where he publicly hid behind the Bible and to this day has never talked about to the media. Want to hit him where it hurts? D is your way to go.
However you greet Hamilton today, fans – have fun, be safe – and above all, let's go Rangers!
