Hour-Long Police Chase Ends With Crash In Northwest Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A suspect wanted on charges of aggravated robbery after an armed carjacking led Dallas Police on an hour-long chase that ended when the suspect rammed a police car in Northwest Dallas.
It began just after 11:30 Tuesday night on Victory Park Lane, near the American Airlines Center, where the suspect was accused of a stealing a woman's car at gunpoint.
A short time later officers found the suspect and the car and gave chase.
The chase ran up Greenville Avenue to Mockingbird Lane, west on Mockingbird past Love Field and eventually into West Dallas.
At one point, the chase was going about 75-miles-per hour up Lemmon Avenue, where it changes to Marsh Lane in Northwest Dallas.
Jonathon Shipman, a producer for CBS Radio station 105.3 The Fan, was caught up in the chase as it passed by.
"Shook my truck when he passed me one lane over," said Shipman who posted his experience along with the video on Twitter. "I was not in an ideal situation."
The suspect turned into a cul-de-sac on Countess Drive and rammed a Dallas Police car head-on in an effort to get out. The stolen Nissan Altima was disabled, and the man arrested.
Police said neither the officer nor the suspect was hurt, but two ambulances were brought to the scene to check them out.
In addition to the aggravated robbery charge, police said the man will face charges of aggravated assault on a public servant and most likely felony evading arrest.
