Homeowner Kills Invader, Second Suspect On The Run
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An East Oak Cliff homeowner fired at two men who police say broke into her residence, killing one and sending the other on the run.
At about 10:30 a.m., police say a noise awakened the 22-year-old woman, who was alone in the home, located in the 72-hundred block of Concordia Lane in Dallas.
Charles Brown, who also lives in the home, says his daughter grabbed a gun and fired several shots at the suspects, who were coming up the stairs.
Both suspects ran toward the front door, and one of them collapsed and died from a gunshot wound. Police are still searching for the second suspect.
Police say they found another gun at the home, which indicates at least one of the suspects was armed.
Brown says about the suspects, "I don't know who it is, but I'm glad I taught my girl how to use a gun."
He says he taught his daughters and wife how to use a gun, after the family faced a burglary seven years ago.
"When (intruders) broke in my home last time, I made up my mind to show my babies how to use a gun. I taught all my girls how to shoot," Brown says.
The resident using the firearm has declined to release her name so far.
Police have not identified the deceased suspect.
