FARMERS BRANCH (CBSDFW.COM) - A neighborhood feud is turning heads in Farmers Branch. A sign outside a home advertises it's for sale "because my neighbor's a douchebag."
Lisa Price said she put up the sign to send a message to the neighbor renting the house next door, who put up cameras peering into her backyard and repeatedly complained to the city about her dogs.
"He knew we had dogs when he moved in," she said.
The final straw was a $121 ticket in the mail citing her for a "barking dog."
Price said she doesn't really intend to sell her home, but was driving home a point.
"We thought maybe that would help him to back off," she said.
CBS11 tried to reach the neighbor referenced in the sign, but could not find them at home.
Others living on the street didn't seem to have a problem with the sign.
"I think it's marvelous," said neighbor Jim Jay. "It could have been a lot cruder."
Dede Sons admitted she laughed.
"Posted it to Facebook, right? 'Can you believe this! It's on the street across from me!'" she said.
Only Ann Felton, the neighbor closest to the feuding homes said she sees both sides.
"The sign's a little distasteful. It's not what I put out there, but it's made its point," she said.
The dogs, she said, have been driving her neighbor crazy, but his complaints to the city have also stirred the pot.
Price said police and even a city council member have stopped by asking her to take the signs down. So far she has refused.
"All our neighbor has to do is come over and talk to us and take the cameras down and be a nice neighbor," she said.
The city of Farmers Branch said the sign meets city ordinance requirements for real estate signs, so there's nothing it can do.
