HOA Tells Homeowners To Remove "Back The Blue" Flags

CORINTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Homeowner Rodney Ivester isn't backing down after his HOA told him to take down his "Back The Blue" flag.
"It's support for our law enforcement and those officers that have fallen in the line of duty," said Ivester.
He's a patriot after all, and has shown his loyalty to police by flying the thin blue flag next to Old Glory ever since the downtown Dallas ambush.
And now, his neighbors are joining the fight started by a letter from the Oakmont Country Club Estates' property owner's association.
It read in part:
"No noxious or offensive activity shall be undertaken on the property, and nothing shall be done which is or may become an annoyance or nuisance to the neighborhood."
Ivester was offended by the letter.
"It's upsetting. I take that as noxious and offensive," he said.
The letter called Ivester's "Back The Blue" flag an 'altered American flag'.
Not so, said Ivester.
"I know a lot of people will look at this flag and there are mixed emotions but there's nothing more to read into it than simply, I'm supporting our local law enforcement," said Ivester.
His story hit social media and neighbors quickly backed him for backing the blue.
"It brought joy to my heart that more people are backing the blue especially someone I live next to," said neighbor Camylle Bowen.
Bowen is the daughter of a police officer who now flies a flag just like Ivester's.
Two other homes nearby now display the "Back The Blue" flag, too. But despite the mostly supportive words from neighbors, Ivester has received some threats online.
'Yet he's still not backing down.
"In America... that's a great thing with living here is we have liberty to express ourselves," he said.
