Historic Plano House Will Not Be Preserved

PLANO(CBSDFW.COM) - The Plano City Council voted 4 - 2 Monday night not to save the historic Collinwood House.
Heritage Farmstead Museum supporters say they raised $500,000 to renovate the historic 1861 built Collinwood House and keep it in it's current location.
They asked Plano City Council members for a partnership and more time to raise money.
The city had requested proposals from the public to pay to restore the house, maintain it, and protect it from vandals. It sits on 124 acres on the old Collinwood Farm along Windhaven between Spring Creek and the Dallas North Tollway. The city bought five parcels of the property between 1993 and 2009.
Heritage Farmstead Museum says the house is a likely candidate to become a national historic landmark, if it stays in its current location, the site of a future Plano park.
Several council members said they don't want any city money spent on the house. Estimates show it would cost at least $1,000,000 to renovate the house.
The council decided to continue moving forward with their current park plan, which does not include restoration of the house at its current site.
