Historic Fort Worth Home Destroyed By Fire
The 1891 Victorian home is still smoldering this morning. Flames erupted just after midnight inside a 34-hundred square foot home on Queen Street in the Central Meadowbrook neighborhood. The two-story Victorian style home was built in 1891 and in 2003, the Fort Worth City Council granted the owners a Historic Site Tax Exemption. The fire raced through the five-bedroom home with flames eventually reaching the distinctive turret that raises above the second story. About 30 years ago, the house was moved from East Texas to its current site on Queen Street. It's been on the market for some time with an asking price of about 400-thousand dollars. The residents are apparently out of town and no one seemed to be home when the fire ignited.
