High School Football Coach Dies After Practice In Plano

PLANO (AP) - An assistant football coach at a private high school in the Dallas area has collapsed and died following the first day of practice this season.

An online statement from Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano says Wade McLain died unexpectedly Monday afternoon. Authorities say a cause of death is sought.

A prayer service was held Monday night for McLain, who was also an assistant baseball coach at the school affiliated with Prestonwood Baptist Church.

The school says McLain was married and had five children.

The National Weather Service says temperatures in the Dallas area on Monday topped 100 degrees as a heat wave continues.
