Heart Awareness On The Lips Of North Texans
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - February is often associated with Valentine's Day, love and hearts. So, it only makes perfect sense that this is also Heart Awareness Month. People are encouraged to wear red on Fridays to support the cause. And now, you can show your support with your lips, too.
The 'little red dress' concept has been expanded to a pin and a pucker. A special shade of lipstick has been designed exclusively for the American Heart Association's 'Go Red' campaign. "The active ingredients are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which makes it water resistant and gives it a natural sunscreen," explained Rochelle Rae, owner of Rae Cosmetics.
A former artist, Rae traded in paint brushes for makeup brushes, and created her Austin-based cosmetics company with one purpose in mind. "It's makeup to stay on all day, for sweaty girls," Rae said. "And we're all sweaty girls in Texas."
The newest line from Rae Cosmetics is Little Red Dress – a lipstick and lip liner collection in a special shade made specifically for the American Heart Association. "It was really a natural fit," Rae said, "because they are trying to get women to take care of their hearts, get active. And my makeup is for active women."
A special awareness will now be on the lips of those who wear this ravishing red. "We really tried to make a pretty neutral red," Rae said. "It's pretty glossy, not real opaque, one that's wearable by a lot of people. It fits very well with my line – get active, be active and be beautiful while you do it."
