Have We All Gone Mad?

By RJ Choppy | @rjchoppy

105.3 THE FAN -- I'm currently so confused as a sports fan as to what's going on with the outrage over Manny Pacquiao fighting with an injured shoulder.

Why is everyone all over Manny for "fooling the public" by playing hurt?

Isn't this what we expect from our athletes? Playing through pain? Wouldn't he have gotten MORE heat if he didn't fight? If he postponed it after all those people made flight reservations and hotel arrangements?

And bought food for the house party?

And why in the world do the fight people think they can or should be able to penalize Manny for fighting? Or get money back?

What world are we living in?

The dude fought hurt. Why is that an issue?

Gambling? OK.

That's the breaks. I placed a bet tonight on Washington +6 right after John Wall said he was playing. Game time comes....no John Wall. It happens.

Did we get all over Peyton Manning for playing hurt and say that they should have disclosed more of the injury for the gambling public? No way!!

It doesn't work that way

His job is to fight, not make sure that the gamblers have the info. Not to make sure the fans get their PPV money's worth. But to fight.

And he did.

And he lost.

And we got 12 rounds of fun, or boredom, or whatever.

So maybe instead of killing Manny for playing through pain, maybe we should recognize the fact that this is what we want our athletes to do when the game is free, and that we can't have different expectations when it's $100.

Its a gamble. Just like a bet against Floyd...
