IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Defensive end Greg Hardy appears to be another step closer to being the newest player added to the Dallas Cowboys roster. The sack artist woke up in North Texas on Wednesday after spending the previous day at the team's Valley Ranch headquarters.

The Cowboys are hoping to officially sign the top free agent on Wednesday, despite the idea that Hardy may face a hefty suspension by the NFL next season. This stems from a domestic violence case. Hardy was convicted, but the entire case and the verdict were eventually thrown out.

The former Carolina Panthers standout had double-digit sacks in his last two full seasons, but he missed 15 of 16 games last season due to the domestic violence allegations.

Hardy was set to take a physical for the Cowboys on Wednesday morning. That is typically a good indication that a deal is close. But there has been no further word about a possible agreement.
