'Handsome Bandit' Pleads Not Guilty In Federal Court
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The North Texas man dubbed the Handsome Bandit made a court appearance Thursday.
Standing before U.S. Magistrate Irma Ramirez, Steven Milam pled not guilty to bank robbery and firearms charges.
Last week Milam was indicted for the December 31 robbery of a Compass Bank in Richardson and subsequent shootout with police.
Days after the incident Milam was involved in a chase with authorities in Mississippi and was finally taken into custody when a local sheriff shot out a tire on the car he was driving.
For now Milam has only been charged with crimes committed in Richardson, but the 44-year-old is also believed to have robbed banks in Dallas, Plano and Irving.
During all of the bank holdups the robber wore a Hollywood-style mask –- hence being dubbed the Handsome Bandit. Richardson police said they recovered the mask after the New Years Eve robbery in their city.
The judge set an April 2 trail date for Milam.
