Guide To DFW's Best 2017 Independence Day Events

As America's favorite holiday draws nearer, many people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are looking for good ways to celebrate with family and friends. Let freedom ring this Independence Day at one of DFW's phenomenal Fourth of July events.

In 2017, Fair Park Fourth will take place Tuesday, July 4. Admission is free to the Fair Park grounds and its historic art, architecture and fountains. One can wander all day in the Texas sun, cool down in the splashy fountains, enjoy some knowledge in the plethora of museums and finally take a break in the shade before the true spectacular begins. Yes, after the rides, live music, history and art, there is still the fireworks show! Take your place in the open Fair Park sky to witness one of the most colorful and exciting fireworks shows around.

Families need not question which celebration to attend. Fort Worth's Fourth has a lively line up of activities and action. Kids will revel in face painting, bounce houses, water slides and even zip lines. While adults will be thrilled to take advantage of the live music of the Tejas Brothers and Party Machine. Get all that energy out and then refuel with a smorgasbord of tasty foods including hamburgers, tamales and barbecue. Your eyes will also feast on an air show at 8 p.m., following by a flyboard show and fireworks at 10:00. The excitement starts now!

The grand gates of Addison Kaboom Town will open, allowing crowds to rush in starting at 4 p.m. Get there early for some fun, patriotic food and drink, followed by the Addison Airport Air Show at 7:15 p.m. Take a breather from the adrenaline and relax and relish the vibrant sounds of the Dallas Wind Symphony at 8 p.m. Then, after the brilliant Texas sun sets, at 9:30 p.m., Addison Kaboom Town! will live up to its name, bursting with color, light and sound. If you are unable to come in person, 100.3 Jack FM will simulcast the show.

If you have some patriotic energy saved up, exhaust it at the University Park Firecracker Fun Run on Independence Day. The 5K route is circular, with Curtis Park as its hub. If you run just fast enough you can make the annual Independence Day Parade at 9 a.m. on Euclid Avenue starting at Preston Road. You can register for the run in June, so start training now.

Have yourself a Summer Blast in Grapevine. Bring the whole family or just someone special for some watery, refreshing fun on Lake Grapevine or other outdoor activities like hiking, boating and more.
