'Grinch' Steals Mineral Wells Christmas Decorations

MINERAL WELLS (CBSDFW.COM) - Less than two weeks before Christmas, the Kessler's yard is decked out with Holiday cheer.  "It just gives a sense of peace, fun and joy," says Linda Kessler, who lives in Mineral Wells.

Sparking icicle lights dangle from the roof, candy canes line the yard and inflatable Santa reigns.  "Get a lot of kicks from watching the little kids," says David Kessler.

But then just a few days ago a Grinch showed up.  Thieves stole about $600 worth of decorations sometime early Tuesday morning.

Fifty candy cane strands, inflatable frosty and other lighted decorations along with extension cords were all swiped from the yard.  "It's sad during Christmas time that they would steal joy from not only us, but community I just think it's sad," says Linda "I feel bad for the people responsible."

Mineral Wells does a little decorating around town, but the Kessler's home is famous for its elaborate decorations.
"I've gone a couple of times last week my grand-daughter likes it it's really pretty," Mary Bowen who lives in the area "It's just really pretty."

The couple says they're not sure why anyone would snatch their decorations.  "They took away a part of this beauty that people enjoy so much," explains David "For us it's not a big financial thing I just hate to see people would do this kind of thing."

The family has called pawn shops and even checked other neighborhoods, but so far no sight of what was taken from their yard.

The Kessler's are in the process of getting security cameras.

They are also offering a $500 reward for information leading police to the people responsible.
