Grapefest Offers Much More Than Just Wine
GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - The largest wine festival in the southwest kicks off once again in historic downtown Grapevine. This is the 26th year for Grapefest. The annual four-day event starts Thursday. And while wine always takes center stage at the festival, there is plenty of fun for the whole family. Come out for delicious food, live music and even a carnival featuring rides and games for kids.
One highlight of the festival is the Grape Stomping Stage, where two people compete to see who can juice a bin of grapes the fastest using only some fancy footwork. While the resulting juice is not actually turned into wine, it gives folks a good example of how wine really was made in the past.
CBS 11 News reporter Melissa Newton got a sneak peek at the Grapefest event before the gates opened on Thursday morning. Watch the two videos below for some tips on how to win big prizes in the carnival games, and see Melissa stomp some grapes. Then, be sure to head out to Grapefest this weekend.
