Grand Prairie Police Officer Walks Away From Violent Wreck -- Again!

GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - Twice in one week, two Grand Prairie Police officers walked away from violent car crashes that could have been fatal.
Grand Prairie Police posted video of one of the accidents on their Facebook page. It happened Friday, June 19, at Highway 161 and Pioneer Pkwy. Despite the driver's side of the SUV being plowed into by an 18-wheeler, the officer had minor injuries.
GPPD posted this comment to its Facebook page, "We never thought to have two back-to-back fleet accidents where the results could have been fatal for the officers; however, by a pure miracle (define that as you will) the officers in both instances walked away with minor injuries. We are very thankful this officer was not injured when a semi-truck failed to stop at a red-light. You can fwd to 37 seconds into the video to see the impact. WOW!"
Just the day before, a GPPD traffic officer's patrol car was rear-ended I-30 near Belt Line Road. The patrol car hit the officer, who was standing outside of his car, causing minor injuries. The pictures, posted on GPPD's Facebook page, show the mangled patrol car and indicate his injuries could have been much worse.
About this accident, GPPD posted this on its Facebook page, "Thankfully, a passerby on a sport motorcycle stopped to help our officer by taking off his bandana and wrapping the officer's arm in it, stopping the bleeding. The officer was transported to a hospital where he was later released with some cuts, bumps and bruises. The driver that was initially stopped was also taken to a hospital and is expected to recover. Thank you to those who reached out to us with your thoughts and prayers."
