Grand Prairie Police Look For Murder Suspect
GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Grand Prairie are searching for a murder suspect. Officials believe that 31-year-old Christopher Darrell Jefferson killed the mother of his children and injured her mother in front of those kids. The violent incident took place shortly before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning in the 2000 block of Eva Street.
Officers arrived on the scene to find the two victims with gunshot wounds. They were both transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center. One of the victims -- 24-year-old Latoya McGowan -- was pronounced dead at the hospital. McGowan was the mother of Jefferson's kids. The second victim was McGowan's mother. She was treated at the hospital and released.
According to police, the children witnessed the suspect shoot both individuals, but they were not harmed during the incident. Officials did not give any other details about the kids, nor did they mention a possible motive for the shooting.
Authorities now believe that Jefferson is either still in the DFW area or heading toward Waco in a maroon 2004 Pontiac Grand Am with the license plate DX3-G733. He may also be driving an older model white Chevrolet Caprice. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 972-988-TIPS.
