Grand Prairie Police Chase Ends In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A man was arrested early Monday morning after leading authorities on a chase from Grand Prairie into Dallas. The incident started just after 4:00 a.m. near the intersection of Interstate-30 and the President George Bush Turnpike.

Police in Grand Prairie initiated the high-speed pursuit after attempts to stop a suspect's silver sedan were unsuccessful. The driver refused to pull over and, instead, began a chase that reached over 100 mph at times. The chase traveled down the turnpike to eastbound Interstate-20, then north along Highway 67 into Oak Cliff.

Traffic cameras caught the action in progress, as the chase went speeding along the highways. The Dallas Police Department got involved when the pursuit crossed into their city.

The suspect ultimately exited the highway at Illinois Avenue and crashed near Rugged Drive. He got out of his vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but was arrested at that location. There were no injuries reported to the suspect or any police officers.

A drug dog found something in the suspect's vehicle which was believed to be methamphetamine. There has been no word yet on what charges the suspect might face. His name has also not yet been released.
