It was June 16 that River Patino was driving along Lakeview Drive, and was approached by another car.
According to Grand Prairie Police Detective Lyle Gensler, the incident had been classified a gang-related shooting.
"When they were approached by some individuals that threw some gang signs, they threw some gang signs and a shooting occurred there afterwards, killing River Patino," explained Gensler.
Patino had been shot in the head and while police had no suspects they continued trying to solve the murder case.
"Over the course of the last three months we've been investigating mostly witness statements on the account," said Gensler. "Based on those witness statements we've been able to make an arrest as it relates to the murder of River Patino."
