Grand Prairie Cameras Catch Burglars In Action
GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - A Grand Prairie neighborhood is keeping a close eye on what's happening along their streets. You won't see the cameras, but they'll see you.
On Wednesday in the Hidden Brook neighborhood, two burglaries occurred, and they have the pictures to prove it.
"When the homeowner's association got together, they started asking the residents if anybody had cameras faced in the direction of where the burglary occurred," said Grand Prairie Detective Lyle Gensler. "When something happens at one house, within a matter of 30 minutes, their network system reaches out to see if anybody saw anything."
And according to Gensler, one of the residents caught the burglars in action. The pictures show one of the suspects escaping the scene with a homeowner's jewelry box in his hand.
The car used in the burglary, a black Mercedes, had plastic covering the license, making it difficult to identify the suspects vehicle. Police do not yet have any suspects in the case, so they are turning to the public to help identify the men.
Gensler says the neighborhood watch program has provided police evidence in a number of cases leading to crimes being solved.
"We ' be there at every minute and every second of the day. And this homeowner's association, we give a lot of credit to because they've united and come together."
