Grand Prairie Approves 6-Month Drilling Ban
GRAND PRAIRIE (AP) - Another Dallas-area city has put new natural gas well permit drilling applications on hold amid environmental and planning concerns.
The Grand Prairie City Council on Thursday night approved a 180-day moratorium on drilling applications while it looks at strengthening ordinances that say where wells can be placed.
Grand Prairie currently has more than 60 active wells.
Flower Mound, also on the Barnett Shale, earlier this year approved a similar moratorium.
