Governor Fund Fight
The latest Governor's fight has to do with how state money meant to help high-tech firms is spent.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White goes after Governor Perry after Dallas Morning News reports said 16 million dollars of emerging technology fund money went to companies with investors that gave to the Governor's campaign. White wants to know if that fund is really used to create jobs or just for political payback. "What was done to ensure that this was based on results and not politics?" The Governor's campaign says White would never be in politics were it not for favors garnered after he raised money for President Bill Clinton and says White gave out plenty of political favors as Mayor of Houston, both charges are denied by White.
