AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – Governor Greg Abbott was discharged Friday afternoon from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio following treatment for 2nd and 3rd degree burns suffered last week.

Governor Abbott will return to Austin where he will continue to recover and carry on with a schedule.

According to his spokesman, Governor Abbott was on vacation in Wyoming when he accidentally burned himself with hot water.

Upon his return to Texas, doctors found a minor infection from severe burns on his legs and Abbott underwent skin grafts to repair damage on both feet.

The Governor and the First Lady say they are thankful to all the doctors and medical professionals at BAMC and to the public for their overwhelming support and prayers.
