Gov Perry: Obama's Immigration Order Means More Border Chaos
Gov. Rick Perry says the Obama administration's executive action on immigration will trigger a new flood of people illegally entering Texas from Mexico.
"The President's actions placed a neon sign on the border, assuring people they could ignore the law" said Perry at a Wednesday morning press conference to address border security.
The outgoing Republican's comments came Wednesday, as Gov.-elect Greg Abbott is poised to announce that Texas will sue the federal government over Obama's executive order.
The suit would be the first of its kind filed by a state since Obama announced the order last month.
But it will mark the 30th time Abbott, who is the outgoing Texas attorney general, has sued Washington since 2009.
Obama's order is designed to spare from deportation nearly 5 million people living illegally in the U.S.
But Perry says it will create more border chaos. He and Abbott argue Texas, as a border state, will be especially harmed by Obama's order.
