Goodell To Meet With Bounty Players
NEW YORK (Sports Network) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will meet with the previously suspended players who were part of the New Orleans Saints "bounty" case.
Goodell will meet with the players sometime next week in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and that any punishment which will be handed out will take place after the meeting.
Last week, a collective bargaining agreement panel overturned the initial suspensions of Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith, Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita and free-agent defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove to start the year.
Fujita and Hargrove played for New Orleans during the bounty program's duration from 2009-2011 under defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who has been suspended indefinitely.
Vilma was originally banned for the entire 2012 regular season, Hargrove for eight games, Smith four contests and Fujita three tilts.
