Good Samaritan Helps Dallas Police Catch Burglar

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A good Samaritan helped Dallas police catch a burglar Thursday afternoon by observing the burglary as it occurred.
Police responded to a burglary call in the 5500 block of Spring Valley Road. The caller observed the burglary as it was progress.
According to police, the witness called after she observed a suspicious man outside of an apartment that she knew he didn't live in. The caller watched as the man entered the apartment through the window.
Police said the witness continued to watch as the man exited the apartment through the window and wiped down the window screen.
By staying on the phone with 911, the witness was able to give a detailed description of the man and the direction he went after leaving the apartment.
According to police, responding officers were able to catch the man a short distance from the apartment.
Police said the man had a backpack with him that contained property from the apartment. Officers were able to return the property to its owner.
The man was identified as 27-year-old Deante Washington. He was arrested for residential burglary and transported to Lew Sterrett Jail.
