Glenn Heights Kidnapping Leaves Community Wondering, Worrying

GLENN HEIGHTS (CBS11) - Glenn Heights is a community of mixed emotions after a kidnapped teen returned home safe.
There is relief, of course. But, the many unanswered questions lead to worry as well.
Neighbor Amy Nabors insists that community needs the whole story—and wistfully recalls a different time when, "You can leave your door, your windows open, and nobody going to mess with you," says Nabors. "Now, wicked world."
And although 17-year-old Keidra Kirby has been found, Nabors says, "I still worry… I still worry."
And she's not alone.
"I'm concerned for my own self," says Stanley Cooks. "I can't fight no three guys in masks or one guy with a gun."
According to police, the teenager was walking home with friends Saturday evening around 7:00.
Witnesses told detectives that two masked men grabbed the teen and threw her into the back of a white van that a third man drove.
An Amber Alert was issued. Then, The Texas Rangers, FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children all hurried to assist in the case.
Early Sunday, the teen phoned a relative and was found safe in Southwest Dallas.
"When she returned so quick—I thought it was a hoax, somebody she knew, a prank," said Cook as he wondered aloud, while admitting, "I don't know really."
And that, some say, is the problem. Glenn Heights police on Sunday provided few answers to the community's questions; but, rushed to assure that community that the incident was 'isolated.'
Police Chief Phillip Prasifka told reporters, "We are attempting to identify suspects. We do not believe there's a safety risk to the community."
Meanwhile, homeowners wonder what, exactly, that means… and what's fueling the certainty.
"What I want to know is `how can they be sure there's no reason to worry'," says Nabors. "If I'm the mother, I'd be hysterical right now… as a taxpayer, I want to know."
