Gillispie Introduced As New Texas Tech Basketball Coach
LUBBOCK (AP) - Texas Tech introduced new basketball coach Billy Gillispie to the Red Raiders fans and media members at the school's arena Wednesday morning.
He and Tech have agreed to a five-year contract.

The 51-year-old Abilene native, who is 140-85 in seven seasons as a Division I coach, led UTEP and Texas A&M to remarkable turnarounds. Texas Tech officials are hopeful he can do the same in Lubbock.
In 2004 he led UTEP to its first NCAA appearance since 1992.
Gillispie led the Aggies to three consecutive 20-win seasons. In 2005, he was chosen AP Big 12 coach of the year. He wasn't as successful at Kentucky and was fired in 2009 after the Wildcats missed the NCAA tournament for the first time in 17 years.
