DALLAS, Texas (1080 KRLD) - Some lucky fans will skip the dreaded I-30 traffic and have a helicopter drop them at AT&T stadium for tonight's college football championship game. It's called Uberchopper.
The online car service Uber has set up the unique service with Epic Helicopters of Fort Worth. Brian Murnahan with Epic says it's the perfect event to match Uber, with direct helicopter service.
According to company officials, they started taking reservations at 11:00am Monday morning and were booked solid within thirty minutes.
It works just like calling for a cab through the Uber app on your phone.
For an estimated $350 per person, Uber sends a car to pick you up, and takes you to the helicopter pad.
The service includes a tour of downtown Dallas from the sky, and a ride home with Uber taxi service.
The service is limited and will run today only, starting at 5:00pm.
Murnahan says he hopes the success of tonight's venture leads to more chopper taxis for sporting events.
