IRVING (105.3 The Fan) - Ezekiel Elliott likes to call himself a "Hero In A Half-Shirt,'' and while this is in part about fun, fashion and comfort, it's also about business.
The Cowboys rookie running back wore a half-shirt on the NFL Draft red carpet, mimicking what the NCAA instructed him to quit doing at Ohio State. The half-shirt isn't a legal uniform in the NFL, but Zeke is still having fun with it, having worn his No. 21 jersey crop-top for a weekend NFL rookie photo shoot in LA.
According to NFL rules, the jersey "must be appropriately tailored to remain tucked into the uniform pants throughout the game."
That doesn't mean Zeke can't rock the crop-top in photo shoots, in practice (like the OTAs that commence at Valley Ranch on Tuesday) or … as a businessman.
Elliott has reportedly filed a trademark on the restaurant name "Zeke's Crop Top Bar and Grill." So he's thinking ahead, marketing-wise, and so are the Cowboys.
Because while Elliott can't wear a No. 21 half-shirt during games, no NFL rule precludes you from doing so. So as first reported by KXAS, the Cowboys Pro Shop plans to make the Zeke half-shirt available for you … and no, probably not at half-price.
