Gay Pride Week Hits The Streets In Fort Worth
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — Community members marched through downtown in the "Color Our World With Family Pride" Parade and Street Festival as part of Fort Worth's 34th Annual Pride Week celebration on Saturday.
This was the third consecutive year the parade was held in downtown Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County Gay Pride Week Association. The parade began at noon on Weatherford Street and continued down Houston Street. The parade is part of the larger Pride Week, which kicked off on Sept. 30.
Among the community members, Fort Worth Police Chief Rhonda Robertson was slated to participate.
After the parade, the Pride Street Festival continued at Main and Ninth streets featuring live entertainment and vendors lining the streets.
Pride Week continues through Oct. 10. Planned activities include a Pride Picnic at Trinity Park Arts Pavilion on Sunday and QCinema's 17th Annual LGBT Film Festival starting on Thursday.
