Garrett Celebrates With Film As Cowboys Face Quick Turnaround

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- After sweeping a divisional opponent with a game-winning field goal as time expires on the road to tie for the division lead, you would expect the head coach to celebrate. That's just not Jason Garrett -- at least not this week.

"We actually watched a lot of tape on the plane," said Garrett on 105.3 The Fan's New School. "Unfortunately it's a short week, so we tried to watch that one fast and get on to the Oakland thing."

The Jason Garrett Show

Dallas will host Oakland in their traditional Thanksgiving game on Thursday. And while Garrett didn't celebrate, a number of the players did.

"A lot of guys had fun on the plane ride home," said Garrett.

After enduring a week of trash talking from the Giants players without responding, the Cowboys were thrilled to escape New York with a win.

"Getting a 'W', it always feels good," said Dez Bryant in the locker room after the game. "I honestly feel like it's not good to talk before a game."

The team faced the possibility of staying the night in New York due to the wintry weather in the DFW area. Instead, their plane landed safely in Dallas early Monday morning. Garrett says the team will begin preparations for Oakland with a team walk-through on Monday.

"We had to put all our focus and energy on beating the Giants. We get up this morning and we get onto the next one. That's what we're doing."

Garrett Explains Playcalling Changes

Garrett has not taken over playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Bill Callahan, but the head coach has looped himself into the process.

In the past, offensive plays would run from Callahan in the booth to Wade Wilson on the sideline, who would then relay the call to quarterback Tony Romo.

Wilson, the team's quarterbacks coach, has shifted to the booth alongside Callahan, leaving Garrett to communicate with his quarterback.

"Wade sees the game as well as anybody," says Garrett when explaining the decision. "As much as anything else, we just wanted to stimulate conversation."

Garrett says the move has helped the team make quick, in-game adjustments.
