Garland Man, 66, Dies In Police Shooting

GARLAND (AP) - A 66-year-old Dallas-area man is dead after, according to police, he threatened officers with a gun.

The incident happened Saturday night in a residential neighborhood of Garland, a northeastern suburb of Dallas. A Garland police statement says a caller reported a man waving a pistol around outside. When officers arrived, he allegedly lowered the handgun in the officers' direction in a threatening manner. The officers fired, fatally wounding the man.

A police statement released Sunday identified the man as 66-year-old James Howard Kincaid. The statement says the officers involved in the shooting will be placed on paid administrative leave pending completion of an investigation.
