Garland Donation Center Overflows For Tornado Victims

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - A center was established in Garland for volunteers, donors, and residents impacted by the tornado that ripped through the area last Saturday.
Scott Bollinger with the Joint Disaster Management Resource Center said the center filled up within the first 24 hours of the disaster, with many eager to help. But he said there are some things the center has received too much of.
"We've gotten a lot of bottled water and a lot of clothing. Those are things we are filled up with and don't need any more of".
He said what they do need are toiletries, baby care items and plastic storage bins. Bollinger said he was amazed at the amount of help they've received.
"On our website alone, we've had 3,000 people sign up to volunteer. We've had countless companies and contractors and for profit agencies and non profit agencies reach out to help".
The Center has been set up at the Granger Recreation Center, 1310 W. Avenue F, in Garland.
