Garland Clerk Set On Fire During Robbery Dies From Injuries
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Nancy Harris, the 76-year-old store clerk who was set on fire during a robbery last Sunday, has died from her injures.
Garland Police say Harris was working at a Fina gas station and convenience store last early Sunday when 36-year-old Matthew Lee Johnson entered the store and set Harris on fire before robbing the store.
Police who arrived at the scene shortly after the robbery found Harris standing and able to give a description of her attacker, despite still being on fire.
Harris was taken to Parkland Hospital, where she died from her injuries Friday evening. Johnson, who was arrested shortly after the robbery while attempting another robbery, is being held in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center on a $1 Million bond.
