Garland Attack Suspect Wants Case Tossed

PHOENIX (AP) - Prosecutors have asked a judge to reject a request to throw out a case against an Arizona man charged with helping plan an attack on a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas.
Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem wants the judge to throw out evidence from his interview with investigators two days after the attack.
His attorney says the interview wasn't recorded because of malfunctioning recording equipment and raised questions about whether his client voluntarily spoke with investigators.
Prosecutors say agents took notes during the interview and that Abdul Kareem wasn't coerced into speaking with investigators.
Authorities say Abdul Kareem provided guns that two men used in the May 3 shooting in Garland, Texas.
The two were killed a police shootout.
Abdul Kareem has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
