Garcia 'Thrilled' To Be Back On Ryder Cup Team

MEDINAH, IL (AP) - Sergio Garcia was as spirited as ever two years ago, never letting on how disappointed he was to be on the sidelines at the Ryder Cup.

Inside, however, the Spaniard was thinking that won't happen again.

Helped in part by that stint as a vice captain at Celtic Manor, Garcia has regained his game - and his place on Europe's Ryder Cup team. He's "thrilled'' to be back, and his return can only help an already powerful European team.

With a 14-6-4 record in his previous five Ryder Cups, Garcia ranks ninth on Europe's list of points won. He trails only Ian Poulter (9-2-0) and Luke Donald (8-2-1) for best point percentage.

And Garcia is sure to feel as comfortable as any American at Medinah Country Club. This, after all, was the site of his spectacular showdown with Tiger Woods at the 1999 PGA Championship.
