Fort Worth Police Officers Stop Stabbing By Shooting Man To Death
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman remains in critical condition after Fort Worth police rescued her from a man who was repeatedly stabbing her. Police went to The Hills apartment complex after a neighbor named Colett Cline called 911 and said a man was trying to throw a woman off a balcony. Cline heard the victim screaming, "help me, help me!"
Officers forced their way into the residence after hearing screams when they arrived, too.
"They located a male stabbing a female. They opened fire on the suspect," according to Sgt. Kelly Peel with the Fort Worth Police Department.
Shattered glass and a wooden board remain in a second floor window; a reminder of the tragic incident.
"I'm in shock that this happened," said Debra Hapblewhit who lives nearby.
The man, whom police did not identify, died at a local hospital shortly after the shooting.
Residents who knew him said they're surprised.
"He's a very nice man. It's all I can say. I never thought he'd do something like this," said Hapblewhit.
Police haven't released any information about the relationship between the man and the woman, nor have they released her identity.
Authorities also haven't identified the officers involved in the shooting.
