FWPD: 1 Shot, 1 Injured During Game Room Robbery
TARRANT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police think a string of game room robberies are connected after one man is shot during an arcade holdup early Monday morning.
The latest robbery happened at the Big Ten Arcade in far northwest Fort Worth.
Police say one suspect was playing a game inside the arcade and then pulled out a gun.
"One individual pulled out a weapon that he had concealed and basically took over the arcade," Fort Worth police Sergeant Pedro Criado explained. "He buzzed in I believe three more suspects that were with him; that assisted him during the robbery."
The suspects robbed the only people inside -- the manager and one other customer.
Two unfortunate customers then went to the business.
"While the robbery was taking place two other patrons knocked on the door and they were buzzed in by the suspects," Criado said.
The two customers made it inside but soon tried to run back out after realizing they'd walked in on a robbery. One person was shot three times; another was injured when he fell while running away.
No word on the condition of those hurt.
Sergeant Criado said investigators believe Monday's robbery and shooting is connected to two previous game room holdups.
"They do believe that the suspects are related or possibly responsible for two other robberies that have occurred, I believe, two weeks prior. The robberies were committed at similar gaming places."
The four robbers escaped in a dark-colored SUV driven by a fifth suspect.
Police are asking that anyone with information about any of the robberies call Crime Stoppers at (817) 469 TIPS or contact Fort Worth police at (817) 392-4370.
