FWISD Board To Discuss Dansby's Future
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A major shake-up could be coming to the Fort Worth Independent School District. Board trustees are set to meet on Monday to discuss Superintendent Walter Dansby's future with the district. Dansby has been the Fort Worth ISD's leader for the last three years, and has been working within the district for the last 40 years.
The 5:00 p.m. meeting on Monday is a special closed session. Trustees will discuss Dansby's employment contract. Sources said that some board members want Dansby to resign over arguments about how the district's money is being spent.
Dansby is the first African American superintendent in Fort Worth, and reportedly one of the highest-paid district leaders in the state. He makes more than $300,000 each year in base pay. That does not include his bonus last year of $10,000 for a satisfactory evaluation.
But the STAAR standardized test results have been released and student performance is a big concern. The number of low-performing schools in the Fort Worth ISD increased last year from 23 schools to 38 schools.
