FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Fort Worth obtained an arrest warrant for a man who allegedly had bomb-making materials in his home and was making bombs. The Fort Worth Fire Department said Sunday that the man was in custody and will be charged.

The charge is for possession of a prohibited weapon, more specifically possession of an explosive weapon. Police have not given the suspect's name.

Residents in a west Fort Worth neighborhood had to be evacuated Saturday after police received a bomb threat. According to the Fort Worth Police Department, around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, a witness told police that a male in his 30s appeared to be in possession of bomb-making materials at a home on the 5400 block of Whitman Avenue.

A SWAT team was called to the scene to assist police with the investigation.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, after police were able to get him to surrender peacefully.

The Fort Worth Fire Department assisted police in deploying a robot to clear the residence of any suspicious materials.

Upon the completion of a search, the residence was deemed safe and the neighborhood evacuations were lifted. The Fort Worth Fire Department is now investigating the case and processing the crime scene.

There were no reports of injuries, and police emphasized that the situation did not appear to be related to any terrorist activity.
