FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -  An 11-year-old girl was critically hurt Saturday morning after a vehicle struck her on the 1300 block of Barrel Run in Fort Worth.

The child was taken to Cook Chrildren's Medical Center by a helicopter ambulance with head and leg injuries.

The child was walking on the sidewalk when the driver of a Ford Expedition lost control and struck the child and a tree before crashing through a brick wall around 9:45 a.m.

Witnesses told the Fort Worth Fire Department that the female driver of the Ford Expedition hit one or more vehicles on a neighborhood street, then turned into the 14200 block of Sendera Ranch Boulevard on the wrong side of the four-lane, divided road.

The adult female driver of the vehicle was transported by ground ambulance for evaluation; her injuries were non-life threatening.

No identities have been released. Fort Worth PD Traffic Investigation Unit investigated the incident.
